The Pediatric Finger Pulse Oximeter is a medical-grade device specially engineered to fit the smaller fingers of children and infants. Unlike standard adult oximeters, which often provide inaccurate readings due to a loose fit, this pediatric model features a smaller sensor chamber and specialized software to ensure high-precision tracking of blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) and pulse rate.

Key Features

  • Child-Sized Sensor: Features a smaller aperture and a soft, hypoallergenic silicone padding designed to fit fingers with a diameter of approximately 0.3" to 0.44".
  • High-Definition Multi-Directional OLED Display: The bright, clear screen can be rotated in 4 directions, allowing parents or healthcare providers to read the results from any angle.
  • Advanced Pediatric Chipset: Calibrated specifically for children’s heart rates and blood flow, providing faster and more stable readings for active or wiggly kids.
  • Plethysmograph & Perfusion Index (PI): Displays the pulse waveform (SpO2 wave) and the strength of the blood flow, helping to confirm that the sensor is positioned correctly for an accurate reading.
  • Visual & Audio Alerts: Features a customizable alarm system that beeps or flashes if the oxygen levels or pulse rate fall outside the healthy range.
  • Kid-Friendly Design: Usually available in bright colors or friendly animal themes (like pandas or birds) to reduce "white coat anxiety" and make health monitoring less intimidating.

How to Use for Best Results

  1. Preparation: Ensure the child’s finger is clean and dry. Remove any nail polish, as it can block the light sensor and cause false readings.
  2. Placement: Insert the child's index, middle, or ring finger into the oximeter. Ensure the finger is pushed in far enough for the sensor to cover the nail bed.
  3. Stillness: Encourage the child to keep their hand still for 10–15 seconds. Movement is the #1 cause of inaccurate "low oxygen" readings in children.
  4. Reading: Once the waveform (the jumping line) looks steady, record the SpO2 percentage and Heart Rate.

Important Care & Safety

  • Not for Continuous Monitoring: This device is designed for "spot-checks." It should not be left on a child's finger while they sleep unless specifically directed by a doctor.
  • Environmental Light: Avoid using the oximeter under extremely bright sunlight or directly under a lamp, as excessive infrared light can interfere with the sensor.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the silicone sensor area with a soft cloth dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol after each use to maintain hygiene.

What’s Included

  • 1 x Pediatric Finger Pulse Oximeter
  • 1 x Neck Lanyard (for easy portability)
  • 1 x Protective Carrying Case
  • 1 x User Manual

Note: A normal SpO2 reading for a healthy child is typically between 95% and 100%. If you consistently see readings below 92%, or if the child shows signs of breathing difficulty, contact a healthcare professional immediately.
